Niki van Stein is an assistant professor in the Natural Computing Group of LIACS. She received her PhD in Computer Science from Leiden University in 2018. Niki’s research interest are in explainable AI, automated machine learning, global (Bayesian) optimization and neural architecture search.

Next to her research, Niki has founded several software solution oriented companies such as Emerald-IT – Custom software development, and Smartnotation – the smart meeting minutes application.
