Heinrich J. Wörtche, received his Diploma (1988) and PhD rer. nat. degree (1994) in
nuclear experimental physics from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He spent 14 years in academic research with the University of Münster, Germany and the University of Groningen, The Netherlands performing R&D projects at leading research facilities including CERN (Geneva), TRIUMF (Vancouver), RCNP (Osaka) and KVI (Groningen).

From 2008 to 2016 he was Scientific Director of INCAS3, a private research institute on sensor technology. In 2015 he became part-time professor with the Eindhoven University of Technology. Since 2018 he is also full-time professor in the Institute of Engineering at Hanze University of Applied Sciences and chair of the section Sensors and Smart Systems. He has (co-)authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
